I am pleased to announce that after many years of work in law and politics, I am again joining CBMC USA (Christian Business Men’s Connection) as an Ambassador.
What does that mean? I will use my 42 years of CBMC experience to actively travel, speak at outreach events, write and mentor a new generation of young leaders in marketplace evangelism and discipleship.
My primary style is storytelling. Why stories?
Storytelling was the style of Jesus Himself. “All Jesus did that day was tell stories, a long storytelling afternoon.” (Mt. 13:34 MSG). Jesus was merely following the Old Testament patterns. God told Moses, “Tell your children and grandchildren… the stories… so that you’ll know that I am God.” (Exodus 10:2 MSG).
Sermon outlines from the world’s greatest preachers disappear into thin air. But “God stories” last in our memories forever. They keep us moving in the right direction. “When you find yourselves flagging in your faith, go over that story again, item by item... That will shoot adrenaline into your souls!” (Hebrews 12:3 MSG). Stories shoot adrenaline into our souls!
The prophet Micah told us to “keep all God’s salvation stories fresh and present.” (Micah 6:3 MSG). I love to tell some of my old stories from courthouses, golf courses, political arenas and exotic places around the world. But the ones I like the best are those that are ‘fresh and present’, stories of what happened recently, maybe even today!! God is at work all around us if we pay attention.
I hope and pray that these stories will shoot spiritual adrenaline into your souls. Stay tuned with ‘ears to hear’.
For the Harvest,
Tim Philpot | Revelation 12:11
